History

It all started back in 1935 when the point family bought land on the N. Prosperity Farms Rd. close to the intercostal waterway. Although much of the family owned the area once known as Paradise Point, in the 1940s the family had affectionately named the area Daphne de Maurier’s Frenchman Creek after one of their mother’s favorite novels. In 1977 several developers purchased nearly 1400 acres and designed two public golf courses. 700 of these acres plus these two courses became known as Frenchman’s Creek. The other 700 is home to the Bears Club and the Ritz-Carlton Golf and Spa Community.
