The Jupiter Medical Center will be opening the new DeGeorge Pavilion located at 1210 S. Old Dixie Hwy. emphasizing speedy recovery and boosting patient care. This new three-story center will include areas for surgery, recovery and rehabilitation. This nonprofit hospital employees over 1600 staff and medical employees including 600 physicians and is the largest employer in Jupiter Florida.
The Jupiter Medical Center originally opened in 1979 but now it is growing to include the Florence A. DeGeorge Pavilion. The third-floor women services unit will include eight labor rooms, 14 post delivery rooms and two C-section operating suites. Suites will offer overnight facilities to accommodate fathers or labor partners. There will also be a lounge for family members. With this new medical department there will be an increase of about 800 deliveries each year.
The second story will include an orthopedic center with the surgery area, 30 private patient rooms, and on-site gym for rehabilitation and physical therapy and a family room and dining room.
The first floor will include the cafeteria with a 24 hour room service feature, menu and wide variety of choices for patients and employees.
The entire facility is designed to make rooms easier for patients and staff. This new pavilion is just another step in the expansion for the Jupiter Medical Center. JMC also plans for more medical clinics in the next five years between West Palm Beach and Hobe Sound. In April, JMC plans to open a $13 million Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center. This expansion will create outpatient care and research as well as new technology in changes to the medical industry.
For the open house, free screenings and fitness demonstrations were exhibited, face painting, teddy bear clinics and giveaways were all planned.
